State government data chiefs form a club of their own

Since Colorado kicked things off in 2010, 25 state governments have hired chief data officers. But until this week, those officials had lacked an association through which they could convene and exchange strategies, like NASCIO does for chief information officers. But that's changed with the formation of the State Chief Data Officer Network, which is holding its inaugural conference at Georgetown University. Benjamin Freed reports.
