A more responsive Texas.gov
Texas.gov Director of Technology Pete Eichorn joins us to discuss the latest website enhancements launched in late April.
Eichorn shares insights and lessons learned in building a responsive design, mobile content development and plans for the future.
The site first launched in 2000 and now offers more than 1,0000 online services. Through December 2012, Texas.gov has processed more than 180 million transactions, collected more than $27 billion in revenue and contributed more than $141 million in new revenue to the state’s general revenue fund.
The move to responsive design was inspired by a growing mobile user base, with some services receiving up to 20 to 30 percent in mobile traffic.
The site is managed by NIC Inc. and is built on a Microsoft stack, including Sharepoint, with a Google-powered search functionality.
