Survey says...

About four-fifths of state and local officials believe their organizations have the ability to fend off cyberattacks, according to a survey released Tuesday by Palo Alto Networks. But more than half said their agencies lack incident response plans for dealing with ransomware, despite the fact that a vast majority believe the threat is unlikely to recede any time soon. Just 31% of the 200 officials surveyed said they have specific plans for dealing with a ransomware attack. Benjamin Freed has more.

A new bill from Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., includes language creating a pilot program that would allow state and local governments to enroll in CISA's Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program, the agency's monitoring service for federal networks that gives near-real-time updates about vulnerabilities that need to be addressed.  Ben has the latest.

There's a new cyber range, and everyone's invited

After one year of operating a cyber range for its MBA students and local enterprises, leaders at Ottawa University in Arizona said they hope it will become an attractive training option for a broader cohort of private companies and governments seeking to defend themselves against cyberattacks. In addition to 16 MBA students graduating in June, the range is also open to training public-sector and industry workers. Colin Wood reports for EdScoop.
