Kansas' big cyber share

Kansas has greatly improved its cybersecurity collaboration compared to a year ago, state CIO DeAngela Burns-Wallace told StateScoop in an interview Friday. Burns-Wallace credited the state's participation in a National Governors Association policy academy, as well as work done by a task force Gov. Laura Kellly empaneled last July. "[It] has made the ability to share information and to leverage resources I would say 10-fold," Burns-Wallace said. Colin Wood reports.

New Jersey to disinformation: 🤬

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparation launched a new Disinformation Portal earlier this month, designed to be a website where it can repel online efforts to sow mistrust in government and other institutions, which the office's director, Laurie Doran, said are more rampant than ever. “There’s so much out there," she said. “I would hope we don’t need to have this, but we do. It’s a fact of life.” Benjamin Freed has the story.

NTIA staffs up for broadband grants

As it prepares to ship out more than $42 billion in new broadband funding to states as part of last year’s infrastructure law, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration recently expanded the senior leadership team that will oversee the new grant program. Evan Feinman, a policy adviser to former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, was picked to run the new Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment grants. Ben has more.

New cyber collab

Major cybersecurity vendors CrowdStrike and Mandiant, announced last week they've struck a deal to integrate some of their services for customers that already use both companies to protect networks and respond to incidents. The firms said the first move will be folding CrowdStrike’s cloud-based threat intelligence platform into Mandiant’s consulting services. Joe Warminsky had the story on CyberScoop.
