Seattle’s incoming CTO reflects on ‘intense’ COVID-19 response in San Jose
On this week’s Priorities podcast, the soon-to-be chief technology officer of Seattle, Rob Lloyd, reflects on his time as the deputy city manager of San Jose, California. As Lloyd looks ahead to his new role in Seattle starting June 24, he shares with StateScoop what attracted him to the job in the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell’s Seattle One Plan, a comprehensive plan that lays out the next 20 years of community growth, sustainability and equity. Lloyd says assisting in the execution of this plan‚ which features an emphasis on digital services, was a major attraction. Lloyd also discusses challenges he faced in San Jose, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. “The fact that we were able to save lives and save livelihoods — just that was two-and-a-half years of such intensity,” Lloyd says.
