Winners of the 2020 LocalSmart awards for city executives say the pandemic forced city technology to become more inclusive and equitable.

Miami CIO Michael Sarasti told StateScoop the city's "data-driven culture" was made legitimate by the pressures of the ongoing health crisis.

Michael Sarasti will now be the city's director of innovation and information technology.
