Pennsylvania contracts NIC to manage web operations

Pennsylvania has awarded NIC Inc. a five-year contract to manage its web operations, including the state’s flagship website, pennsylvania.gov.

Pennsylvania has awarded NIC Inc. a five-year contract to manage its web operations, including the state’s flagship website, pennsylvania.gov.

NIC provides a self-funded service offering, where government pays no fees for web and mobile application development, and NIC realizes revenues based on transaction commissions.

The company currently operates 28 U.S. state government websites.

“NIC’s self-funded portal model and vast catalog of web and mobile applications will allow us to expand the number of online services, delivering them in a more efficient and cost-effective way,” Secretary of Administration Kelly Powell Logan said in a prepared statement.

Under the terms of the contract, a renewal clause that allows the state to extend the contract through December 2022. NIC’s Harrisburg-based subsidiary Pennsylvania Interactive will manage the development.
