Boston Courtyard Festival brings together local tech innovators
To celebrate local technological victories, entrepreneurs from a variety of disciplines gathered from around Boston to share their contributions to the city in its first Courtyard Innovation Festival on Thursday night.
Designed to convene, inform and grow one of the nation’s most vibrant technology scenes, the festival was hosted by Mayor Martin Walsh and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Six speakers from five categories — innovation, mobility, agriculture, creative freelance work and personal robotics — shared how they’re contributing to the local economy and their plans for expansion.
“It’s a one-night speaker event that highlights the new technologies and startups that are shaping the future of Boston,” said Jackie Lender, event organizer and Harvard City of Boston presidential fellow.
Speakers scheduled for the event included:
- Isaiah Kacyvenski, Angela Ruggerio, and Joshua Walker, managing directors of the Sports Innovation Lab
- Assaf Biderman, founder of Superpedestrian
- Cynthia Breazeal, founder and chief technology officer of Jibo
- Brad McNamara, co-founder and CEO of Freight Farms
- Rica Elysee, founder and CEO of BeautyLynk
- Pat Petitti, co-founder and co-CEO of Catalant
Also scheduled was a question and answer session and “startup showcase,” designed to share the work of companies including 88 Acres, District Hall, MassChallenge Boston, and SmartHub, among others.
