New Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has named Anthony Fung as the state’s deputy secretary of technology in the latest wave of administration appointments.

Fung previously served previously as CEO of technology consulting firm GovInsight, LLC and as majority owner of Catapult Consultants, LLC, a firm that specializes in financial, acquisition, health care and information technology management.

He also worked as a consultant at Commerce One and American Management Systems in his career.

Fung holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

As the deputy secretary of technology, Fung will work for Karen Jackson, who was promoted to secretary of technology in December. The duo will also work with state Chief Information Officer Sam Nixon, whom McAuliffe decided to retain from the administration of predecessor Bob McDonnell.

The secretary of technology in Virginia oversees the Virginia Information Technologies Agency, which manages the states outsourcing agreement with Northrop Grumman, as well as the Center for Innovative Technologies, a nonprofit that invests in emerging companies.
