The National Association of State Chief Information Officers was one of seven national associations of state government officials to author a new report focused on transforming state government operations based on collaboration.

The report stems from a summit the alliance of organizations held in March that focused of transforming state government from the inside out.

“NASCIO is pleased to contribute to the vital work of the Alliance,” said Mississippi CIO Craig Oregeron, NASCIO’s President. “We believe information technology to be an indispensable tool in the transformation of state government, enabling effective and efficient state government business processes, providing opportunities to investigate alternative delivery models, and offering a collaborative venue to streamline citizen services.”

Members of the Alliance are the Association of Government Accountants, the National Association of State Budget Officers, the National Association of State Auditors Comptrollers and Treasurers, the National Association of State Chief Administrators, NASCIO, the National Association of State Personnel Executives and the National Association of State Procurements Officials.

The organizations came together to identify new ways that states can operate to promote better accountability and efficiency. Some of the key areas focused on included human capital and workforce, consolidation, enterprise management and increased use of analytics.

At the conclusion of the conference, a number of the attendees decided to continue the discussion and finds ways that their ideas could better help the state government community.

Working on behalf of their given organizations, the members decided to begin working on the report along with holding events around the subject. One of the events, a webinar held on June 25, is available via YouTube. You can watch the video here.
