The New Jersey State Police are planning to install 120 new automated license plate readers around Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Private firms operating with little oversight are collecting data that some experts say amount to an unacceptable level of surveillance.

Those who purchase the new design will see their proceeds go toward nonprofits that advance technology and computer science training and education.
